Following directives by the Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee in regards to physical return to schools, it has been decided by the relevant authorities that a staggered physical return to school will come into effect as follows:
Week of 24 January: continuation of distance learning except:
- KG1 to Grade 5 (FS1 to Year 6)
- Grade 12 (Year 13)
- Higher education institutions and those in sitting for national and international exams at the end of this academic year (as shown in the table below)
Week of 31 January: All students return to school physically.
Parents will reserve the right to continue distance learning and switch to physical learning until 31 January 2022.
Parents will be given a choice to continue distance learning or have their children return to school in person. Schools that have obtained an exemption from providing distance learning can reactivate this right from 31 January 2022; however, this will be revisited.
School staff, third-party contractors or students who have been abroad will not be able to enter school premises until they have obtained a Day 6 negative PCR test from their day of arrival in addition to any other entry requirements.
Requirements for return:
The authorities continue to urge the public to wear a mask and practise social distancing to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
