Al Ain Zoo reopens with safety in mind

by Out and About Mag.

The Al Ain Zoo officially opened its gates on 06 August, with the operation timings set as 9:00 am to 9:00 pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Guests can now visit both the zoo and the Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Centre.

Precautionary measures have been implemented throughout the zoo to safeguard the public from the COVID-19 virus. This is to ensure that visitors have a great experience under the theme "ZoOut Safe".

Visitors can book their tickets beforehand, view the available experiences and the required precautionary measures that need to be taken on the website or with the smartphone application.

Zoo administration is inviting guests to roam around the zoo and its exhibits, and enjoy their restaurants and retail stores.

Two ticket windows will be open for guests, however, the Al Ain Zoo recommends that visitors use the electronic ticket-booking option.

According to Ghanim Mubarak Al Hajeri, Director-General of the Al Ain Zoo, the number of visitors will be capped at 1,800 a day, and the main theatre will not receive more than 53 visitors at a time.

He explained that the safety measures include, leaving a protective distance between cars in the parking area, adding space in restaurants and retail stores, separate entry and exit areas while viewing exhibits and different zoo locations, checking visitors' temperatures before they enter the zoo, and ensuring that safety precautions such as wearing masks and gloves and regular use of sanitisers are followed.
