The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority will hold a Summer Virtual Camp intended for a wide audience of students from July 12 to August 31, 2020. The programme intends to demonstrate and lead interactive activities to enhance and showcase the students’ creativity and resourcefulness. The Summer Virtual Camp, which features a unique online experience that aims to educate and entertain, includes the Etihad Virtual Summer Club and Certified Cultural Guide programmes. This initiative stems from the Dubai Culture’s commitment to instill creativity and innovation among youth, discover emerging national talents, and foster children’s appreciation of the Emirati cultural heritage.
Etihad Virtual Summer Club
The Eithad Virtual Summer Club features an interactive tour of the Etihad Museum’s different galleries. Activities include a digital drawing workshop on geometric art, an online drawing game, an online puzzle, and newspaper-making. Other interactive experiences shall also focus on the important historical and cultural facets of the UAE, namely sections in the museum featuring the ‘2nd of December’, or UAE’s founding date; the ‘Founding Fathers’ collections; and the Union Tree Garden planted in 2012 by H. H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.
Certified Cultural Guide
The Certified Cultural Guide is a 5-day student programme on cultural tour guiding. This programme is hosted on the Dubai 360 website, in partnership with the Dubai College of Tourism. The Etihad Museum and the Al Shindagha Museum shall serve as the virtual venues in conducting theoretical exercises and practical tours. The students will earn a certificate as a cultural guide upon passing the practical evaluation.
