Caribbean queen Rihanna delivered a hit-heavy performance during Apple Music's Super Bowl Halftime Show on Sunday night at Arizona's State Farm Stadium. However, what the Bajan singer revealed during her performance is not what most people thought when she said, "I'm thinking about bringing someone". "I'm not sure; we'll see.", when asked in an interview last week if there would be any surprises during her performance at the halftime show.
Naturally, the fans assumed her reference was to one of the many artists she has collaborated with over her illustrious career. However, the singer/entrepreneur revealed she was pregnant with her second child by showing off her baby bump clad in a red overall by Loewe.
The Show
Rihanna packed a huge number of hits into a tight 14-minute set. The show featured a troupe of dancers, levitating stages that moved up and down while she belted songs from the risers and the main stage, and a spectacular fireworks display. Her electrifying performance signalled that even though it has been seven years since we've had a new album, the bad gyal can still bring it when it comes to putting on a spectacular show.
What songs did Rihanna perform?
Let's start by saying Rih gave no new music during her performance. Instead, she opened with a rousing rendition of her hit song, "B*tch Better Have My Money", and then kept the audience pumped with dance hits "Where Have You Been" and "Only Girl (In The World)." She kept the energy going with new arrangements of "We Found Love" and "Rude Boy."
It was expected that she would perform her most popular songs. Still, the audience was also surprised that Rihanna did not bring out any special guests, even when she performed collaborations like "Work," "Wild Thoughts," "All of The Lights," Run This Town," and "Umbrella." Rihanna closed the show with a performance of "Diamonds" while the fireworks went off over the stadium.
