La Mer is jam-packed with restaurants. But the Slab Test Kitchen is a refreshing cut above the rest, especially for foodies. Their international seasonal menu which bursts with flavour embodies their motto, “Food we love to eat.”
Slab Test Kitchen is a casual dining restaurant that serves seasonal menus with global influences, driven by chef Omar Rodriguez’s passion for delivering quality food. He describes mother nature as “the best chef” and therefore, is encouraged to choose ingredients are ripe during that season. “Foods that are in season are way more delicious and make for better dishes,” he says.
As such, Slab delivers a different menu 4 times a year — winter, spring, fall and summer. Summer menus are rich with cooling ingredients such as watermelon, while winter menus would include more comforting ingredients such as eggplants. However, favourites such as Insanity Pie and Spicy Noodles (chef Omar’s interpretation of Sichuan cuisine’s Dandan noodles) are kept in the menu all year round.
Foodies can also enjoy an intimate dining experience with chef Omar at the 'Chef’s Table.' During this experience, the chef provides menu favourites, as well as off-the-menu perks, based on the diner’s palette and preferences. The chef also takes guests at his table through each dish served.
The Slab’s latest pop-up concept, the ‘Slab burger,’ is also available in the summer menu at their La Mer location for dine-in, take-out or delivery via Deliveroo. Slab burger will soon be available for delivery from virtual kitchens in Al Barsha and JBR, Dubai in the coming months.
