Supporting Girls’ Education Beyond International Women’s Day

by Out and About Mag.

Supporting girls' education transforms communities, countries and the entire world at large. Girls who receive an education are more likely to lead healthy, productive lives. They then stand a chance to earn higher incomes, participate in the decisions that most affect them, and build better futures for themselves and their families. A girl's education can change everything.

Gender equality in education benefits every child.

Extending your activism beyond March

Once International Women's Day blows over, we often forget about supporting girls/women globally until the next year. You can play a role all year long by backing efforts that make sure all girls have the opportunity to succeed in the classroom and beyond.

Here are some organisations that will help you do so:

The Malala Fund

Malala Fund is working for a world where every girl can learn and lead.

Malala Fund

Malala and Ziauddin Yousafzai founded the Malala Fund in 2013 to champion every girl's right to 12 years of free, safe, quality education.

The Campaign For Female Education (CAMFED)

Learn, thrive and lead change

CAMFED is a pan-African movement revolutionising how girls' education is delivered. Through a gold-standard system of accountability to the young people and communities we serve, we have created a model that radically improves girls' prospects of becoming independent, influential women. Our impact increases exponentially through the Association of young women educated with CAMFED's support. Together, we multiply the number of girls in school and accelerate their path to livelihoods and leadership.

Global G.L.O.W.

Global G.L.O.W., Girls Leading Our World, is a nonprofit organisation that creates and operates innovative programs to mentor girls to advocate for themselves and make their communities stronger.

Children are naturally hungry to learn but face daunting barriers to attending school, especially girls. CARE International works to address the roots of those impediments as a way to increase learning opportunities. Among those barriers are hunger, lower social status, chores, early marriage, school safety and sanitation.

Girl Up

When girls rise, we all rise.

Girl Up

Girls have a tremendous, often untapped power to change the world. Girl Up helps girls access their inner power to advance girls' skills, rights, and opportunities everywhere.

Of course, there are many other individuals and organisations supporting girls around the world, so we encourage you to find one that has a message that speaks to you.

Do remember to research the organisation before you part with your cash.
