TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR BRAND.
My name is Rachel Weyler from Australia. I moved to Dubai in 2012 and founded The Mode in early 2018. My idea came when I realised I was spending a fortune on outfits to keep up with the trends but realised it simply wasn’t sustainable. Nowadays, with society revolving around social media, a girl doesn’t want to be seen in the same outfit twice. My friends and I found ourselves swapping dresses each week. It was like a rotating wardrobe, so I thought, why not monetise this? This is where The Mode was born. A rent-love-return concept offering a vast collection of on-trend designer dresses catering to all occasions, with the option to hire for three, seven, and ten-day periods.
WHY SUSTAINABLE FASHION?
There’s no argument that sustainability is becoming an increasingly important topic to society, with people becoming more conscious of sustainable living and fashion. The Mode remains fashion-focused, yet environmentally responsible, which can be seen from the company statistics. The average occasion dress was worn up to 19 times, while the average occasion dress is typically worn just 1 to 3 times. The Mode promotes a sharing economy by allowing the public to rent their own designer items via www.themode.ae
WHAT ARE YOU PASSIONATE ABOUT?
I am incredibly passionate about creating a platform that encourages a sharing economy. Since the launch, I have had an overwhelming amount of emails and Instagram messages from the public, who want to sell or rent a pre-loved dress via the platform. From then on, I introduced our ‘Share Your Style’ - a consignment-based platform. This allows the public to recycle and monetise their own designer dresses, creating a sustainable environment for the future.
WHAT’S THE PURPOSE BEHIND THE MODE?
The Mode is a dynamic, forward-thinking, online styling tool that offers an affordable and sustainable approach to luxury designer fashion. The Mode developed the rent-love-return model and has since firmly positioned itself in the ever-changing market as not only an extension of your wardrobe but also a personal digital stylist. The user-friendly e-commerce platform offers a variety of rental packages, both short and long-term, allowing everyday women to replenish their wardrobe with luxury pieces at a fraction of the retail price.
The Mode is a unique service that caters to women of all ages, sizes and tastes. The platform has been carefully curated to offer a wide variety of bespoke collections, hand-picked to flatter and cater for all occasions. With both Australian and international favourites, including Zimmerman, Self Portrait, Alice McCall, Shona Joy, Nicholas, Bec & Bridge, Badgley Mischka, and Rat & Boa.
Simply browse the website by designer, occasion, or category, choose your rental package and outfits, pay online, and eagerly await the delivery right to your doorstep, within 24 hours of making the order – it’s that simple! Once finished, your items will be collected for dry cleaning and returned to The Mode on completion of your chosen rental period. For those looking to add an extra sparkle to complete their outfit, they can take advantage of the stunning handmade jewellery designs of Caroline Svedbom, which combine precious stones with Swarovski crystals in beautiful matrimony.
